Skimmer pools
Building a pool is no longer unaffordably expensive, and so they are increasingly also found, often in the above-ground type, in the gardens of private homes. Over the years, for sports centres, holiday farms and hotels a pool has become a strategic factor for attracting more customers and improving the service offering. In some geographical areas, especially a long way from beaches and the coast, an outdoor pool has high added value regardless of its shape or type. The skimmer pool is the traditional kind and also the most widely used, also because it is the least expensive to construct. The skimmers are actually the openings along the edge of the pool, designed to trap the dirt which accumulates in the water and convey it to the filters by means of a collection system. In this model of pool, the water level is about 10 cm below the edge. Less visually striking than infinity pools, skimmer pools can still be very attractive but must be constructed with the right materials, and in this case porcelain stoneware is ideal. Outdoor porcelain stoneware is first and foremost anti-slip, which may prevent dangerous falls in wet and damp locations. It is waterproof and frostproof and resistant to chlorine and acid paving cleaning products. Every collection in the 20 mm due2 range has a large selection of matching trims: ribbed gratings, straight gratings on PVC, and internal and external finger grip edges.

Infinity pools
In both public and private gardens, the pool area is often an oasis for relaxation in green surroundings, one of the main attractions of the home, a resort or a holiday farm. This is even more so with an infinity pool. In this case, the water is level with the surrounding paving and is conveyed into gratings placed around the edge of the pool to collect it and keep the level constant. This type of pool is strikingly attractive, especially in panoramic locations, where it seems to lead seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. For an infinity pool, it is even more important to choose a due2 porcelain stoneware paving in 20 mm thickness, not just because this paving is frostproof and anti-slip but also because the tiles’ colour is very important for the hues reflected by the water. Another factor that provides a glamorous, impressive context is continuity between the materials used to cover the pool, its edges and the paving of the entire garden. The wide due2 range enables this uniformity to be maintained across a large number of sizes and effects. One option is a pool shaped like a natural pond, irregularly shaped and set perfectly into its natural context, using a stone-effect porcelain stoneware for the lining of the pool and for the path which leads to that part of the garden. The lighting will then do the rest by highlighting the entire area.
