The due2 porcelain stoneware outdoor range can be installed in the conventional way and also dry, without glue and grout, on sand, gravel and grass.
INSTALLATION ON CEMENT SCREED
Ceramic tiles 20 mm thick should be installed on a cement screed for vehicle-resistant applications. In this case, the procedure is to dig out the substrate and compact the bottom, add a layer of aggregate and stabilise it and then install the due2 porcelain stoneware with an outdoor elastic adhesive. Joints of at least 2 mm must always be left between tiles, as well as additional movement joints. Installation of the due2 outdoor system with a cement adhesive on a suitable screed creates a vehicle-resistant paving.
DRY INSTALLATION ON GRASS
A substrate can be created when installing porcelain stoneware dry on grass. To do this, remove the grass within the outline of the due2 tile, dig down 5 cm in hot, dry climates or deeper in cold and/or wet climates, compact the soil in the bottom, fill the hole with aggregate (diameter 4-8 mm) or sand and compact it.

DRY INSTALLATION ON GRAVEL
Due2 porcelain stoneware tiles can be installed on gravel on large surfaces, and for installations with narrow joints or without grass between tiles. In this case, the substrate has to be dug out to a depth of at least 10 cm in dry climates and on well drained ground, or deeper in cold or rainy climates. Compact the bottom of the hole and make sure that it slopes slightly (≥ 2%) to prevent standing water. Otherwise add a layer of non-woven fabric. After this, add and then compact first a layer of aggregate or gravel (diameter 4-8 mm) and then add and compact a layer of fine gravel (diameter 2-5 mm) to facilitate levelling of the surface. A slope of ≥ 1% should be left to ensure that water drains off the paving; check the flatness of the surface with a straightedge. The due2 tiles can now be installed dry, leaving joints of at least 2 mm. Cross-shaped spacers of the type used in conventional tile installation can be used when laying the porcelain stoneware. A rubber hammer can be used to correct any slight differences in level. Finally, to complete installation, fill the joints with very fine sand (diameter 0-3 mm) or a mixture of fine sand and polymers.
DRY INSTALLATION ON SAND
due2 porcelain stoneware tiles can be installed dry by simply placing them on sand without using glues and grouts and they can be walked over immediately. They can be installed straight on top of sand: level and compact the sand, after which due2 can be installed dry very quickly.

INSTALLATION AS A RAISED PAVING
The due2 range of porcelain stoneware tiles can also be used for constructing perfectly flat, very convenient raised paving systems on terraces and rooftops. Rainwater flows down underneath the paving, where it is collected by the waterproofing membrane and where there is a inspectable cavity which can be used for laying utility systems and which helps to improve the building’s insulation. After the roof has been assembled with the necessary slopes, the waterproofing membrane is installed. The next step is to position the pedestals as appropriate to the chosen tile size, with slope correctors if necessary. The pedestals can be adjusted during installation to obtain a perfectly flat paving. To cut due2 tiles, use discs specifically recommended for porcelain stoneware, available for both dry and wet cutting processes.
THE D PLAIN SYSTEM
The D Plain system has been developed for the outdoor installation of porcelain stoneware raised paving and offers architects versatile solutions with the greatest compositional freedom. It is a simple, high-performing structure, quick to install and high-strength, which permits the creation of raised paving with a large number of tile sizes and layouts. The system’s bearing structure is in polypropylene and guarantees the highest safety standards in the event of failure of the due2 porcelain stoneware tiles, with no further reinforcement systems required. D Plain expands the vast potential of tiles 20 mm thick. D Plain is easy to install and ideal for laying ceramic tiles at different heights and for compensating any unevenness in the substrate thanks to the adjustable pedestals and spacers. The result is a stable, perfectly flat ceramic surface. D Plain includes a fifth pedestal in the middle of each module and two bars per module. Four bars per module are recommended for particularly narrow or small tile sizes. Using this system for installing porcelain stoneware provides immediate benefits: quick installation, possibility of cutting tiles to shape during laying, easy removal, easy cleaning, a stable surface and safety for outdoor living.

DEL CONCA WINDPROOF SYSTEM
Windproof system has been specifically designed for due2 raised porcelain stoneware paving installed on buildings in areas exposed to high winds or extreme or particularly intense weather events. The inserts are available in a vast assortment of colours and sizes and give a raised paving stability and compactness, reducing the risk of detachment.
