Founded in 2019, gourmet food oasis Rifugio dei Mele stands in the heart of the Sentiero degli Dei, a walking trail of narrow steps and pathways high above the sea amidst Mediterranean vegetation and vineyards. The restaurant, which seems to hang above the wonderful inlet of Positano, was designed using Ceramica del Conca porcelain stoneware floor coverings.
Established by Raffaele Mandara and his wife Francesca Imperati (Mele Group), thanks to Chef Michele Falciano and Pastry Chef Paolo Mer it has become a magnet for lovers of food experiences and zero food mile dining.
Scallops with asparagus and tapioca crisps, tartare with mascarpone cream, summer truffles and Giffoni hazelnuts… a glance at the menu is enough to make anyone want to head straight for Rifugio dei Mele.
Apart from its gourmet food offering, Rifugio Dei Mele provides the appeal of a terrace surrounded by greenery with a view of the Positano sea. What looks like a large picture is actually a glass screen providing direct access to the outdoor area with a panorama of the Amalfi coast, ideal for entertaining friends and foreign guests on holiday. The paving material chosen is from the FORUM2 collection, an outdoor stone effect with uneven edges which was also used indoors, creating a single open-plan area running from the entrance to the clifftop view point. Forum is ideal for covering paths, paved zones within gardens, pool surrounds and artificial ponds. These stone-effect porcelain stoneware tiles reproduce the natural ageing of a quarried stone. The exquisite finish is produced by an industrial process: the die creates undulated rounding of the 20 mm ceramic tile’s edges, giving it the intriguing, antique look of a hand-shaped paving slab.
The Forum collection of stone-effect outdoor paving tiles is available in three colours, Nero, Grigio and Beige, and in a single rectangular size, 40x80.
