Manuel Poggiali, now riding coach and multifaceted events organiser for Ducati, was presented with the coveted award during the annual prize-giving organised by famous motorsports journal Motosprint.
During the presentation of the Casco d’Oro (Golden Helmet) Poggiali, twice world champion in 2001 in the 125cc and 2003 in the 250cc categories, underlined that "It’s a great honour for me to be here today and I’m also very proud, because it means my past achievements were really important. When I began my career I never dreamt I’d win even one title, let alone two, or have some very successful years. I’m proud and happy. All the faces I can see here at the Casco d’Oro awards, in person or in images, are very important and it’s great to be here. Perhaps the only one I can’t see who would have deserved to be here is Marco Simoncelli.”
Poggiali has been riding coach for the Gresini Team since 2019: "I love coaching the riders; it’s a crucial role, you have to support both the driver himself and the technical staff. I find all this really thrilling and inspiring. My advice to young people is to believe in their dreams and never give up.”
Ceramica del Conca has sponsored Manuel Poggiali since the start of his career, sharing his values of determination, passion and fair play, and this year it has decided to continue its support for the San Marino rider, who has become an integral part of the Del Conca family.
