4,000 years ago, people were already living in pile dwellings in the wonderful Ledro Valley. Today their village, partially reconstructed in the Museo delle Scienze, MUSE (Science Museum), has been recognised as a UNESCO Heritage Site due to the rich archaeological finds discovered in 1929. It is in a real corner of paradise, nestling in a fold of the mountains, with one of the Trentino region’s loveliest lakes, Lake Ledro, at its heart.
Camping Sole, founded in 1963, stands right on the shores of the lake and is run on strongly sustainability-oriented principles. The first solar heating panels were actually installed more than 40 years ago, and have been joined by photovoltaic panels over the years. Due to this green vision, most of the energy used by Camping Sole is produced on-site.
The Ledro mobile home, recently added to the other accommodation options, has been constructed with local products by craftsmen from the Ledro area and new bathrooms using the Timeline collection of porcelain stoneware floor and wall tiles by Ceramica del Conca, well known for its constant commitment to more and more sustainable production and the reuse of all processing waste and the recycling of process heat and water. Just a few months ago, at Savignano sul Panaro, Del Conca put into product the new Hydrogen Ready plants, able to reduce consumption and emissions by no less than 3,400 tons of CO2/year, equivalent to 1,300 cars doing an average of 20,000 km/year.
The bathroom floor and wall tiles, chosen by the proprietors with expert guidance from Fratelli Moreni of Orzivecchi, have a concrete-effect texture with rich patterning embedded in the material, perfect also in combination with natural materials such as wood and stone. The size used for both floors and walls is 80x80.
The bathrooms and showers were renovated with a highly sustainable approach, using timed sensors for the showers to avoid any wastage of water when not in use. Energy-saving LED lighting is also used throughout the facility.
The campsite is Pet Friendly and includes a small enclosure where dogs can be left off the lead and a section of the beach where they can enter the water without disturbing other customers.
